Day 11
0 miles (yes, zero!)
After a statistically relevant trend emerging of designing routes that were longer and harder than intended, we had a choice between another route which by our own estimation was ‘quite a tough one’ or a rest day: we concluded unanimously without need for debate that we really needed a rest day! And it was great!
We had a delightful itinerary of breakfast, coffee with our friend Becks, more breakfast, more coffee, and on to recce the athletics track (more on this tomorrow), recce Europcar (more on this on Friday) and a great deli lunch.

We enjoyed our balcony in the sunshine looking across at Mont Blanc and the glaciers. We watched epic stages of the Tour de France. It was joyous!!
Side note to anyone concerned/ traumatised by signs of a goatee on Max – starting as a joke as needing some striking facial hair to be a real trail runner, it morphed into a ‘chapeau’ gesture to Julian Alaphilippe, (who has a goatee) who is wearing the yellow jersey and making this year’s Tour incredible. However today, it has gone, it’s too hot, sorry Julian!
We checked out Le Cap-Horn restaurant for dinner, great vibe and found ourselves choosing a raw fest of oysters, ceviche, sushi and steak tartare. Great pre track food?!…
